We hope you are doing well as spring/autumn approaches.
On the 30th of March, INCCA will host INCCA Café: Art Conservation in Latinoamérica. This session of INCCA Café will present various experiences in the training and conservation-restoration of contemporary art from different realities and contexts in Latin America. The speakers will present from their experiences and regional contexts the realities, problems and resolutions they have regarding the conservation of contemporary art. You can learn more about the Café on INCCA.org and register for the Café here.
Another good news we would like to share with all of you is that our Steering Committee member, Davison Chiwara, recently received his PhD award! The thesis is entitled: Collections conservation practices and possibilities of contamination by hazardous pesticide contaminants: Towards a non-pesticide approach of conserving collections at the Natural History Museum of Zimbabwe. You can read the thesis abstract and the bio of Davison here.
Following the positive vibes, we are thrilled to announce our new early career member in the Steering Committee: Megan Levet! Megan is an emerging conservator specialising in modern and contemporary paintings. With her role on the Steering Committee, she aims to help others gain access to training and provide practical resources for all conservators as they tackle the complex multi-disciplinary world of modern and contemporary conservation.
Last but not least, the recording of the INCCA (Book) Talk with Thea van Oosten is online! If you missed the Talk in February, you can now watch it here.
All the best,
