Dear INCCA Community,
We would like welcome our new early career member in the Steering Committee - Thea Leotta! Thea is an emerging conservator specialising in modern materials, with a particular focus on plastics. She obtained her B.A. (Hons.) in History of Art from the University of Malta in 2021 and went on to complete her Master’s in Conservation of Cultural Heritage Objects at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, in 2024, specialising in modern materials.
On another note, on 18th March, INCCA hosted the INCCA Café: Caring for CRT-based artworks - pitfalls, solutions and current challenges. 82 participants joined this Café. The short introduction by Florian and flaminia was followed by three lightning talks led by Incheol Kwon, Taylor Healy, and Peter Oleksik. The discussion following the presentations created an informal environment where current gaps in knowledge and challenges were addressed. This online event reinforced the need to strengthen the international network of care, define best practices in caring for CRT-based artworks and ultimately consolidate this research in a publication. The presentation recording is accessible by request. Read the full recap here.
Lastly, the Chinati Foundation/La Fundación Chinati seeks a dynamic professional to oversee a comprehensive conservation and collections care program for the museum. The position’s central responsibility is the conservation of Chinati’s permanently installed artworks, a holding which primarily consists of objects but also includes paintings, works on paper, large-scale installations, and outdoor sculpture. For more information, visit here.
All the best,
INCCA Steering Committee
