INCCA Newsletter: March 2026

Dear all,

We start with a reminder to sign up for the upcoming online INCCA Talk on 2nd April 2026 9am BST, where doctoral student Manon Abt will moderate a discussion on the preservation of Toshio Iwai’s Time Stratum series. The talk will bring into focus the challenges of exhibiting and potentially acquiring early computer-based art.  Please read more about it here, and sign up for free here!

The events do not stop there, and for all out London members, INCCA’s Steering Committee member Dr Rachel Rivenc will be speaking about renowned artist Cai Guo-Qiang in person in London on 26th March 2026.  Cai Guo-Qiang is a prominent contemporary artist known for his subversive materials, notably his signature use of gunpowder, which evolved from a traditional painting practice. Rachel published her book Cai Guo-Qiang: The Artist Materials last year, and this talk uses her research to explore the making of Cai’s work and the associated conservation issues. The event will be held in person on 26th March 2026 at 18:00 - 19:30 BST at Vernon Square Campus, Lecture Theatre 2, (WC1X 9EW). Read more about the event and sign up for free here.

And lastly, INCCA is taking part in 2 in-person speed mentoring sessions. The first is in collaboration with CAN! at the AIC annual meeting and conference in Montreal, (read more here), and the second at the LI-MA 9th annual symposium on the preservation of digital art in the Netherlands. Visit their websites for more information.

Best wishes,

The INCCA Steering Committee
