Message to INCCA Members (INCCA Newsletter: January 2025)

Dear INCCA members,

On behalf of the Steering Committee, we are emailing you as a member of INCCA regarding an exciting new development.

In the past year, the Steering Committee has been discussing the future of INCCA with the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE). Since its inception, INCCA has been generously supported by RCE. This provided a home for INCCA; supporting the organisation, our part-time co-ordinators and also the website.

Both INCCA and RCE have been carefully considering our strategic focus and future plans. The RCE, which is a Dutch government body, has concluded that hosting an international network such as INCCA is no longer an activity that can sit under its wing. The INCCA Steering Committee has, therefore, been actively looking for a new umbrella body that is more closely aligned with our international mission.  We are delighted to say that we are at an advanced stage in exploring with the International Institute of Conservation (IIC) a structure where they would provide this new home for INCCA, promising a future that will support our ambitions and ongoing sustainability.

We are extremely hopeful that the IIC Council will vote in favour of this move, and we believe that IIC will provide an excellent home for INCCA, reflecting our global reach. Should this go ahead, INCCA will continue to have its own identity, and membership of INCCA will remain free, and we do not expect our members to see any significant change. There will be no requirement to join IIC, although we hope that some of you might consider that.  Our move to IIC will offer many very positive benefits, including enabling us to raise funds.

Should this be agreed by the IIC Council, we will shortly be issuing a joint statement from INCCA, RCE and IIC. However, we wanted to give our members the opportunity to let us know your views on this move. Should this move go ahead, there will be an opportunity for you to say if you no longer wish to be a member of INCCA under this new arrangement and if you wish us to delete your email and any other contact details we might hold.

Yours sincerely

INCCA Steering Committee
