Dear INCCA community,
Greetings to everyone!
We start our newsletter by saying goodbye to our long-serving Steering Committee member Sanneke Stigter. Sanneke has been an important part of the INCCA community for years, helping to pioneer many important projects such as the Revisiting Artist Interviews Series, a project she continues to participate in. She frequently contributed to INCCA's Mentoring Programme, encouraging the next generation of contemporary conservators, as well as establishing important relationships between INCCA and Dutch institutions such as the SBMK to foster new opportunities for the INCCA community. We will miss her presence on the Steering Committee but look forward to seeing her continue to participate in the INCCA community in future.
"I am sorry to be leaving the INCCA board, and would like to thank all current and previous INCCA-board members for their continuous inspiration and support to the field. It's lovely to stay in touch about topics dear to my heart."
Sanneke is an Assistant Professor in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) where she set up the specialisation of Contemporary Art since 2007. To read more about Sanneke, please visit her UvA profile page.
We’re lucky to introduce our newest member of the INCCA Steering Committee: Vivian van Saaze. Vivian has a dual appointment as senior specialist Modern and Contemporary Art at the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE), and as Associate Professor Conservation Theory and Museum Studies at Maastricht University, the Netherlands. She specialises in the study of museum practices of curating and collection care, focusing on the challenges arising from digitalisation and new artistic genres such as installation art, digital art, and performance art. To read more about Vivian and her many accolades, please visit her INCCA profile page.
Finally, we would like to invite you to the INCCA Student Café pt.6: Time-Based Media, focusing on the long-term preservation challenges posed by complex time-based media artworks. Presentations will be given by Isobel Finlay, Bird Nord, Chang Lan, Mariana Passos, Mirjam Chair, and Olivia Schoenfeld. The talks cover a diverse range of research and practical conservation projects, including re-digitization strategies for video works, maintenance of CRT-based installations, emulation of obsolete multimedia formats, documentation frameworks for undocumented video installations, preservation approaches for analogue film, and disk imaging as a strategy for computer-based artworks. For more information about the speakers and to register, visit our Eventbrite page.
All the very best,
INCCA Steering Committee
