New article published on PNAS about Twin-chain Polymer Hydrogels based on Poly(vinyl-alcohol) as new advanced tool for the cleaning of Modern and Contemporary Art.
The new materials have been developed by CSGI in Florence. The research have been carried out during Nanorestart project (2015-2018) by researchers at University of Florence and Peggy Guggenheim Collection (PGC) for the evaluation of novel nano-structured liquids and gels systems for cleaning sensitive surfaces of modern and contemporary paintings.
I'm glad I worked to the trial phase for assessment of new tools and development of using protocols and cleaning method.
Thanks to the positive results achieved during research two masterpieces by Jackson Pollock (Two and Eyes in the Heat), property of PGC, have been cleaned by the museum conservator Luciano Pensabene Buemi.
