INCCA Newsletter: April 2026

Dear INCCA community,

We’ve been busy behind the scenes and want to start this newsletter with an important update.  This year, following a positive vote by the IIC Council, INCCA moved under the umbrella of the International Institute of Conservation (IIC). IIC will provide a new home for INCCA reflecting our global reach, and promising a future that will support our ambitions and ongoing sustainability. As part of this move, we are creating a new website and community platform for INCCA.

Newsletter subscribers will have received an invitation to the new platform.

In other news, we are very excited to invite you to two very special INCCA events focusing on the work of renowned artist Cai Guo-Qiang. The first is an INCCA (Book) Talk by Rachel Rivenc presenting the in-depth research project she did on the artist, his life, materials, processes, and the conservation of his work. The artist will be present and will offer his thoughts on the project, as well as take questions from the audience. The talk and conversation will be hosted by Tom Learner. This event will be held online on 8th June 2026 9am PST (5pm BST, 6pm CET, 1am Seoul).

The second is a Special Interest Meeting on 15th June 2026 for a small group of conservators to discuss the conservation challenges of Cai Guo-Qiang’s unusual materials behind closed doors. This will be limited to 15 people, held online at 8am LA (4pm BST, 5pm CET).

Visit INCCA to read more and sign up for both events! English live captions will be available with Spanish AI translation for the talk.

And lastly, INCCA recently partnered with LI-MA to organise a Speed Mentoring session at the annual Transformation Digital Art symposium in Amsterdam. The sessions offered emerging conservators an opportunity to connect through short  one-on-one conversations with established professionals in the field, without the usual distractions associated with conferences.

Please stay tuned for more website announcements and keep up to date at www.incca.org

Best wishes,

The Steering Committee
