The Steering Committee of the INCCA North America group says farewell to member Will Shank.
Will Shank, long time head of conservation at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art has worked independently as a conservator and curator in the U.S. and in Europe since 2000. His ‘A Hidden Picasso’ exhibition, which opened the IIC meeting in Bilbao at the Guggenheim Museum in 2004, is currently on view as a didactic installation at SFMOMA and as an interactive website. He is the co-founder of RPM! (Rescue Public Murals!), an initiative of Heritage Preservation in Washington, and the co-curator of an upcoming exhibition ‘Mission Muralismo: With and Without Permission.’ His first book, ‘Celluloid San Francisco: The Film Lover's Guide to Bay Area Movie Locations,’ was published in 2006.
Will played an important role in setting up the North American group; amongst other things as facilitator of the INCCA NA Steering Committee meeting which took place at the Getty in January 2006.
His enthusiasm, insights, hard work and in particular his Spanish language skills were extremely valuable and he will be missed. The INCCA North America Steering Committee would like to thank Will for his contributions and wish him and his family all the best in their new place of residence Barcelona.
