What is your education and/or training?
I am a paintings conservator in private practice and Professional Member of the American Institute for Conservation. I received my training and degree from SUNY Buffalo State. I completed a fellowship at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) and the Museum Conservation Institute (MCI), where I researched and conserved contemporary, modern, and traditional paintings. During graduate school I undertook internships in the paintings conservation studios at the Smithsonian MCI, the Barnes Foundation, and the Phillips Collection. I am Chair Emerita of the AIC Sustainability Committee, where I continue to serve as a professional member. My research interests include late nineteenth-century to present day artists’ materials, zinc soaps, sustainability, and the history of conservation.
