What is your education and/or training?
Mariana Passos is graduated in Conservation and Restoration (2024, NOVA School of Science and Technology | FCT NOVA), her research develops from an interest in the behaviour of modern materials in contemporary art and comes to address artworks whose existence is negotiated through processes of activation and reactivation. With a particular focus on time-based media artworks, her research centres on the role of the conservator as an active manager of change and on documentation as a performative practice that shapes an artwork’s trajectory and transmission and informs its ongoing becoming. he is currently a PhD candidate in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage at NOVA FCT, funded by a doctoral grant from FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P., and developing the project “Afterperformance: Conserving the performance oeuvre of Julião Sarmento (1948–2021)” (2025.05733.BD).
