Two artworks by Dutch artist Wil Fruytier have been used to illustrate this process. Fête I en Fête II, both created in 1969, are large wall tapestries woven from PP rope. Due to a lack of knowledge about PP, these tapestries had become severely damaged. In fact, a number of other tapestries by Fruytier had degraded so much that it was no longer possible to exhibit them and they were discarded.
By sharing knowledge and experience gained over several years of research at the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE), the makers of this website anticipate a better future for the surviving tapestries, and other art works made from PP.
The R2R website is a resource for professionals working in museums or other cultural organisations and for students in conservation or museum studies. R2R has been made by researchers at the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE) and is an INCCA affiliated project.
