Situated on the historical grounds of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham in Dublin the Irish Museum of Modern Art is Ireland’s National Institution for the collection and display of contemporary art.  IMMA stands for innovation and experimentation as it builds the national collection and engages in robust institutional research and dialogue, locally and globally.

This is a particularly exciting time to join the team. During the past two years the Museum has re-energised its focus on the building of its collection. In the past year IMMA has invested over one million euros in acquiring new works and developing new infrastructure and support systems for its management, display and digitisation. To support this vision the team at IMMA is now looking for a dynamic colleague who is well versed in the multidisciplinary nature of collecting contemporary visual art practice and is willing to help in developing the ambitious plans for the collection.

IMMA is seeking to recruit a Collections Manager & Senior Registrar as a senior member of the programming team.

This role will lead the strategically important area of the management of IMMA’s collection of over 4,000 contemporary artworks. Reporting to the Head of Collections, this role offers the chance to work with a renowned modern art collection in a centre of learning. The successful candidate will roll out a new Collections Management System which will develop thinking and build capacity towards a major capital project for a future Collections & Learning Centre.

 

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

At a minimum, a 3rd level qualification in Arts/Museum Studies or relevant discipline.

Extensive experience (at least 5 years) in a Collections Management or Senior Registrar role in a similar organisation.

Broad exposure to the management of contemporary artworks.

Excellent IT Skills with experience of managing databases and CMS platforms.

 

Salary

The salary is in accordance with the 1st point of the PPC Higher Executive Officer Std Grade Point 1 - €49,846.00.

Scale:  €49,846 to €58,577 plus LSI 1 €60,679 and LSI 2 €62,775
