What is your education and/or training?

Kenneth N. Needleman is co-owner and Chief Conservator of Fodera Fine Art Conservation, Ltd., of New York City, an industry leader in the art conservation field. Specializing in the conservation of paintings and finely painted objects, he has been actively engaged in the care of private and institutional collections for thirty-two years.

He received a B.A. in fine art and chemistry in 1980, from Union College, in Schenectady, NY, where he designed a specialized program of study to enable him to enter the art conservation field. He studied at the Istituto per lArte e Il Restauro, in Florence, and from 1982 to 1983 worked under Gustav Berger and Peter Fodera at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, where he was part of the team that conserved John Vanderlyns Panorama of the Palace and Gardens at Versailles. Mr. Needleman became associated with the Fodera firm in 1983 and became Co-Owner and Chief Conservator in 1988.

Works of art treated by Fodera Fine Art Conservation, Ltd. are currently exhibited in museums and private collections across the country and abroad. The firm serves as a consultant to private collectors, institutions and members of the art trade on a broad range of issues. This work extends to the insurance industry and to law firms handling cases involving fine and decorative art.
