What is your education and/or training?

Christine Fröhner joined Contemporary Conservation Ltd. in 2011 after having practiced conservation of modern and contemporary art in Cologne for several years as a freelance conservator. She gained wide practical experience participating in numerous conservation projects in renowned museums and private conservation studios in the Netherlands, Germany and New York. Christine graduated from the University of Applied Sciences Cologne/ Institute for Conservation Sciences in 2007 with a major in conservation of paintings and sculptures. Her Master’s thesis centered around a painting by American artist Frank Stella, Lake City (1963-64), and the particular challenges of its metallic copper pigments in conservation.
During her tenure here at Contemporary Conservation, Christine has built an extensive conservation repertoire with the works of Josef Albers, Philip Guston, Frank Stella and David Reed, amongst others. Recognizing the importance and implications of preserving an artist’s legacy, and enjoying the rich exchange of information and history, she has a special interest in working closely with mature living artists and artists’ estates.
