Lily Bennion

Lily Bennion is an Emerging Professional Conservator, with a Masters in the Conservation of Cultural Materials from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Australia. Lily is based in Perth, WA, and has worked with Community-based Aboriginal Art Centres (Ikunjti Art Centre, Waringarri Aboriginal Arts and Warmun Art Centre) in the conservation and collection management of community collections and deceased estates. Since 2018, she has been working in wall paintings conservation, with notable projects including the conservation treatment of painted surfaces in the Fremantle Prison (WA) and the Trades Hall Living Heritage project in Carlton (VIC). She also undertook an internship with the Shekhewati Project in Fatehpur, Rajasthan (India) undertaking conservation treatment of a 19th wall painting. Lily is an advocate for the conservation and continuation of in-situ heritage and collaborates with remote community Art Centres and artists’ studios in the creation, presentation and preservation of contemporary cultural heritage.
