The Gabo Trust-IIC Travelling Scholarship is a bursary to allow individuals to take a study-focused international tour. These are currently organised in conjunction with the IIC and are available only to members of the IIC. The current scheme replaces a former one that was organised in conjunction with the Museums and Galleries Commission. The Scholarships enable conservators to carry out research on the conservation of sculpture and to meet and see the work of other conservators, and learn about the differing approaches, ethics, materials and methods. Over the years the winners of the scholarships have researched a wide range of subjects, including plaster, coad stone and bronze, polychrome sculpture, handling and moving sculpture in Japan, video documentation, and the training schemes active in European institutions and museums.
