Art Jameel’s Collection Care Fellowship addresses the particular challenges and opportunities associated with managing, conserving and caring for institutional art collections situated in West Asia and associated climates and situations across South Asia, Africa and/or relevant countries.
As part of her Collection Care Fellowship with Art Jameel, Rachelle Tabet (Deputy Director of Collections, Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, Qatar) is conducting a survey aimed at gathering data on how institutions in the Global South source, select, and evaluate materials used for housing and storing heritage collections.
The goal is to better understand the challenges and lived realities of institutions where access to conservation-grade materials is limited, and the solutions they’ve developed to address these gaps, particularly in the SWANA/MENASA region.
If you work with art, heritage or archival collections in the Global South, we invite you to participate in this survey, which will offer insights into the conservation world beyond the Global North.
