Listen to the Artists: Their Materials and Techniques

22 June 2019, 14:00~18:00

MMCA Seoul, Education Building, 2F, Lecture Room 1

INCCA Korea was officially started last April with generous support from the INCCA Steering Committee. The group is going to hold the very first conference with leading Korean contemporary artists and founding members.

We would like to focus on the “Artists” among the other various stakeholder groups in contemporary art conservation. Unconventional, unusual and unknown artistic materials are typical challenges to the contemporary art conservators and we believe that most and the best solutions could be found through the voice of artist himself.

We invite three following artists and ask about their works with curators, critic, and conservators.

- Osang Kwon(osang.net) takes photograph of a subject in many angles, prints them out, then cuts and pastes them onto the carved form resulting a three dimensional photo sculptures.

- U-Ram Choe(www.uram.net) is so called a ‘mechanical sculpture’. His works are usually consist of motors, gears, dynamic components and control units etc. which finally are presented as moving, breathing, and beautiful artificial creatures.

- Kiwoun Shin(shinkiwoun.tumblr.com)’s work explores the concept of time, existence, reality, and illusion through installation, performance, new media and more.

The conference is FREE of charge and open to everyone.

The language will be Korean only.
