Abstract
The early „Farbraumkörper“ from Gotthard Graubner are covered with very fine weaves of polyamide. Because these polyamide fabrics become brittle over time, they are frequently torn. The artist rejected the restoration of his own artwork, which has been damaged. As a result of the artist’s opinion legal and ethical questions are discussed. These reflections lead to a concept for possible conservation. Beyond this, the technological, chemical and physical properties of weaves of polyamide and also their changing characteristics due to aging are described. Through a series of tests the bond of various adehesives to weaves of polyamide have been examined.
