2012 Position at Tate: Conservation Technician, Time-Based Media Tate

Salary:  UKP10,025 per annum (pro rata to UKP20,049 per annum) Part-time 18 hours per week (2.5 days per week)
Tate Conservation is a dynamic department, supporting care of the art collection and Tate programmes including acquisitions, displays, exhibitions and loans. We are seeking a Conservation Technician to provide technical support for Time-based Media (TiBM) artworks. You will concentrate on supporting the acquisition of artworks through media and equipment checking, sourcing equipment and updating Conservation Records. You will assist Senior Technicians and Conservators with the long-term preservation and collection care of TiBM artworks including data and media migration.


You must have technical knowledge of a wide range of TiBM media including film, video, audio, slides and computer programmes, as well as experience checking digital media for quality control purposes. You will able to demonstrate the practical skills required for handling TiBM art works and for checking and servicing equipment such as digital projectors. You must have a pragmatic approach to problem-solving and good communication skills including experience with databases, CAD and image processing programmes.  You will have effective time-management skills and be able to work flexibly as part of a team or alone.
